Resources
CCOM Core Facilities receive significant financial support from the College of Medicine. This support subsidizes the cost of instrument usage, funds equipment purchases/maintenance, and provides staff salaries. As a result of this support, the cost to users of the facilities can be kept affordable. On behalf of the Dean of the CCOM, we request all publications using resources within the Protein and Crystallography Facility to include the acknowledgement statement below:
"We would like to acknowledge use of resources at the Protein and Crystallography Facility within the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa."
Personnel
Data collection by facility personnel without involvement in experimental design or interpretation does not warrant authorship. However, we do request that these contributions are acknowledged.
Instrument Scheduling
Users must reserve instrument time on our QReserve site. Contact facility personnel to get access.
Authorship
"Core facilities must charge for services rendered according to cost accounting practices set up at each institution. Charging for services does not preclude authorship on manuscripts provided the Core laboratory individual has contributed to the research in a substantial way. If authorship is anticipated, it is preferably established at the beginning of the project so that both the customer and the Core researcher are cognizant of each other’s criteria."
Data Management
Users are responsible for storage of all raw and processed data collected at the PCF.
- Users should copy or transfer all raw and processed data to their own local or other storage system.
- While we allow temporary local storage of data on instrument computers, we make no guarantees on the security or long-term availability of any data at the PCF.
